Two of CSU’s agriculture-focused Greek organizations — Alpha Gamma Rho and Sigma Alpha— have teamed up again to host an annual rodeo-inspired fundraising event to benefit farmers and ranchers with disabilities.

The Alpha Gamma Rhodeo will take place Thursday, April 13 from 4-8 p.m. at the AGR house on 705 South Shields St. Event attendees can enjoy a barbecue prepared by the brothers of AGR and a variety of activities including a mechanical bull, axe throwing, yard games, live music and a silent auction. Tickets are $8 presale or $10 at the door.

All proceeds will go to the The Colorado AgrAbility Project, a partnership between CSU Extension and Goodwill Industries with a mission to enhance quality of life for farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural workers with disabilities.

Students Supporting Agriculture

Alpha Gamma Rho was chartered at CSU in 1958. Since then, the chapter has been dedicated to advancing its purpose of sharing a common bond within a dynamic, global agriculture committed to fostering the highest values and providing members with lifelong personal development and professional success.

“Our core values are scholarship, service, leadership and fellowship,” said Animal Science major and Sigma Alpha member Alex Rouillard. “We are very passionate about this event and strive to live out our organization’s values through projects like this.”

In addition to raising funds for important causes like AgrAbility, student led initiatives such as the Alpha Gamma Rhodeo help students develop professional skills that will serve them as they move into the workforce or on to further education.

“We are the future generation of agriculture,” said Rouillard. “So, it’s important that we learn how to navigate conflict and work alongside our peers to make our organizations better, so we can carry on the traditions of agriculture.”

About Colorado AgrAbility

The Colorado AgrAbility Project (CAP) is a partnership between Colorado State University Extension and Goodwill Industries of Colorado. The program is funded in part by a grant from the U.S Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) to provide information, education, and services to farmers, ranchers, agricultural workers and their families with disabilities, illnesses, or conditions. This unique collaboration promotes independence in production agriculture by helping workers find the help they need to begin, remain, or regain employment on their farm or ranch.
